Client Told she Owed $8,000 for Tax Returns She Didn't File

Client received Notice of Deficiency for over $8,000 plus penalties and interest for over 5 different years.  She did not file any of the listed returns.  Ms. Rosenblum and the client developed a strategy to show that the client was a victim of identity theft. A timely tax court petition stated the client could not have filed the returns and had been a victim of identity theft elsewhere.  The case was resolved in appeals before trial and client was responsible for $0.
